When does the project run?
All year
Facilities:
Volunteers are accommodated in a dorm room and share the house with the owner and local staff. Each room has a fan. There are hammocks, chill zones & areas to conduct work. Shared indoor and outdoor kitchen. Three meals per day are provided (mostly local, vegetarian food) and organic food from the land (papaya, mango, plantain, banana, yucca, coconut, herbs, etc.) Vegans can be accommodated. Volunteers are asked to keep dormitory and shared spaces tidy and help with washing and cleaning.

Passion for sea turtle conservation & environmental protection!
Details of the day-to-day life on the project:
June - December: Turtle nesting season - main focus on nightly beach patrols & liberation of hatchlings, exhumation of turtle nests, collection of research data
Time commitment of 4 hour night patrols + 2 hours daytime activity (2 days + 1 night free per week)
Other activities include beach clean ups, helping with household chores, gardening, maintenance of campsite and turtle nursery, social media, photography, etc.
January - May: main focus on environmental conservation, beach clean ups, planting and cultivating local plants, building with natural resources, self-sufficient living, preparation for turtle nesting season
The first two weeks cost $245/week and every week after $175/week.
For locals a price of $105/week is charged
The contribution goes towards funding the project (material, campsite, maintenance of house and turtle nursery, food supplies, etc.) and also helps to fund the salaries of local staff.
Rascarey's location is remote and unique, surrounded by jungle and wildlife. The house is right in front of the beach and next to the Corcovado National Park. The national park is the largest and most remote biological reserve in Costa Rica and contains over 250,000 species - half of Costa Rica\'s total!
Volunteers will have lots of free time to explore the area, go on hiking trails, swim in the ocean and nearby waterfall, snorkeling, surfing, observing wildlife, etc.
